Loyalty Bonus Scheme

The Loyalty Bonus scheme rewards HASCU members who maintain regular savings for a period of twelve months. The scheme provides an incentive for members to save and to keep savings in the credit union. The bonus is designed to be attractive to new investors who can make larger deposits and thereby contribute to increasing the share capital available for lending. We therefore ask investors to maintain their investment for a minimum of two years to ensure the capital can be used effectively.
To be eligible to join, a member makes a minimum deposit of £100 and saves at a minimum of £10 per month. Once the account has accumulated over £1,000 regular saving is no longer required. The bonus is calculated 12 months from the opening of the Loyalty Bonus account, and every 12 months thereafter.
The Loyalty Bonus account is run separately from the normal savings account. Members who borrow must maintain funds in the normal savings account to cover the repayments on loans. The total amount held in both the normal savings account and the Loyalty Bonus account can be used for assessing eligibility for a loan. However funds in the Loyalty Bonus account will be used to cover any default on loan repayments from the normal savings account, which will reduce the eligibility for an annual bonus.
Subject to eligibility, the following bonus payments currently apply:

A bonus sum equivalent to 4% is paid on the amount held in the account up to £1,000.
A bonus sum equivalent to 6% is paid on the amount held in the account of £1,001 or above.

The HASCU Board review the scheme from time to time and at least annually. Any changes will apply for an individual member at the end of the 12 month period for their account.
